Your Spring Skincare Guide for an April Glow Up

Your Spring Skincare Guide for an April Glow Up

The beginning of spring means swapping out our winter clothes for lighter layers, switching up our comfort meals for deliciously crisp salads, and mixing up our skincare routine to align with the change in season.

Our skin needs just as much adjustment to a change in weather as our wardrobes - and that’s why we’ve put together a spring skincare guide to help you transition into a new season with an April glow up.

Let’s get into it!

It’s Time to Repair Your Skin’s Barrier

During the winter, your skin undergoes a lot of disturbances. Due to the colder temperatures and harsher conditions, your skin’s barrier becomes threatened, which means pollutants can more easily penetrate and irritate your skin.

Your skin is also more dehydrated than ever during the winter months, so when spring rolls around, hydration and moisture is more important than ever.

All of the skincare gurus bang the drum for water consumption in the importance of hydrated and glowy-looking skin, and although this is definitely an important aspect, a good moisturiser is an absolute spring essential for locking in moisture and rehydrating your skin after months of harsh, cold weather.

Our Bergamot & Cedar Post-Bath Moisturiser is woody, crisp and herby and the perfect multipurpose moisturiser. This thick, anhydrous cream is perfect for use on the face and all over your body for supple, smooth skin. With anti-aging hyaluronic acid, our hard-working moisturising cream is naturally high in antioxidants and gentle on sensitive skin, ideal for anyone whose skin has suffered after the dryness of the winter air.

Increase Your Exfoliation

Spring is the time to brighten dull, dry skin and remove any dead skin cells that have accumulated during the colder months. We recommend exfoliating once or twice a week, to ensure you don't irritate or strip your skin by over-exfoliating.

If you’re looking for a less-harsh face exfoliant, try our Matcha Fask Mask Bars or Charcoal Face Mask Bars to gently draw  out pollutants, exfoliate, cleanse and clarify your skin.

Nourish Your Skin with Antioxidants

In spring, your skincare routine benefits from more antioxidants due to the longer days and stronger UV exposure, increasing the risk of radical damage, which antioxidants help protect against.

Antioxidants, like vitamin C and vitamin E, help to protect skin from damage and premature aging. High in vitamins A, C & E, essential for collagen production, our Bergamot & Cedar Post-Bath Moisturiser is naturally high in antioxidants. All you need to do is massage a small amount into the skin, preferably straight after a bath to lock in moisture.

Our Face Mask Bars are also rich in antioxidants and are non-comedogenic, leaving skin refreshed, toned and silky smooth.

Swap out Heavy Layers for Lighter Products

Much like we’re beginning to swap out our winter wardrobe for lighter layers, we need to stop piling on the 10-step skincare routine and strip it back for spring.

Although having a solid skincare routine can be really beneficial, applying too many products year round can mean suffocating your skin and actually has the opposite effect of your intended skincare purpose.

It’s time to ‘audit’ your current skincare products and routine and strip it back to the essentials only. That means removing any heavy products that don’t allow your skin to breathe, and sticking to a simple routine of cleanser, exfoliant, serum and moisturiser. You may also want to incorporate a gentle retinol if you feel your skin needs that extra step.

Skincare doesn’t need to be complex. Whether you’re new to skincare or have had your routine locked down for years, it’s always a good idea to assess your routine with the change in seasons.
